Sims 5: Should Keep One Important Part of The Sims 4

With EA and Maxis officially announcing the development of The Sims 5, fans of the popular simulation series eagerly anticipate what the future holds. As The Sims 4 transitions to a free-to-play model, it’s evident that EA is preparing for the upcoming installment, and fans are excited to learn which elements The Sims 5 will adopt from the series so far. Although it’s still early in the development of the next entry in The Sims franchise – currently referred to by its codename “Project Rene” – the announcement of The Sims 5 last year has generated plenty of discussions among players.

The developer has expressed its intent to “reimagine The Sims you know and love with new ways to play” for The Sims 5, hinting at numerous changes in the game. However, fans who prefer the familiar gameplay need not worry, as the game will still be based on the same core principles as its predecessors and remain true to the classic Sims formula in many aspects. One feature that some players hope to see revived and updated is the Kit Votes from The Sims 4, though it’s unclear how this might be implemented in The Sims 5.

The Sims 4 Kit Votes

Upon the initial release of The Sims 4, it was evident that EA and Maxis aimed to provide players with even greater freedom in their beloved social simulation game. As a series that had always encouraged creativity in building houses, defining a Sim’s style, or determining their destinies with a simple click, The Sims 4 sought to push the boundaries even further. Enhanced character creation, expanded building and crafting options, and a new game engine resulted in more sophisticated and nuanced Sims than ever before. Additionally, Kit Votes were introduced as a new feature.

Similar to previous Sims titles, The Sims 4 offered a plethora of post-launch content, ranging from full expansions featuring new interactive careers and pets to smaller game packs that emphasized content over additional features. While Kits may have been limited to furniture or clothing items, they still contributed an extra touch to the base game. EA took it a step further by allowing community members to vote on The Sims 4 Kits they wanted to see in the game, thus democratizing the selection of new Create-A-Sim options or Build Mode items.

How The Sims 5 Could Use Kit Votes

While including community feedback and engaging the player base in their favorite games is not a new concept, it hasn’t been frequently embraced by The Sims series. Developers often monitor fan forums and discussions to shape future updates or content packs, but allowing players to directly influence their favorite releases is an excellent way to increase their involvement. The Sims series enables gamers to create their own neighborhoods and shape their surroundings, and by encouraging them to participate in selecting the building blocks, the franchise can broaden the in-game world and make it even more interactive.

Reintroducing Kit Votes in The Sims 5 and taking it a step further by allowing gamers to have a say on more than just aesthetic items could transform the game into a living, breathing community. One of the most appealing aspects of recent Sims games has been the social features and the ways in which the titles connect to the real world, and incorporating voting only enhances this. The Sims 5 has the potential to be a unique game in numerous ways, encouraging fans to be more involved, welcoming diverse voices, and unleashing boundless creativity.
