Players Should be Encouraged to Follow Sims to Work in The Sims 5

Active careers, also referred to as professions, made their debut in The Sims 3: Ambitions and continued in The Sims 4: Get to Work, featuring the Scientist, Doctor, and Detective careers. Additional active careers, such as Actor and Interior Decorator, were introduced in The Sims 4: Get Famous and The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator, respectively. These careers allow players to accompany their Sims to work and engage in a more interactive experience by completing tasks on-site. Although initially entertaining for many players, the tasks often become monotonous and dull over time, leading players to eventually send their Sims to work offscreen, similar to a traditional career.

The career system in The Sims 5 requires a significant revamp, as the current system, despite offering numerous careers with enjoyable perks, unlocks, and surprises, has untapped potential. In The Sims 5, players should have the opportunity to create interactive, dynamic careers and obtain rewards beyond mere items. One possibility is to adopt a skill tree system similar to that of occults, such as vampires or werewolves in The Sims 4, which would provide greater depth to careers. This may necessitate concentrating on a select few core careers instead of an extensive array, but it would ultimately enhance the overall experience.
